This site is best viewed using a 4.0
or better browser, as it employs stylesheets. It also uses a lot of JavaScript
understood only by these browsers (and Netscape 3.0).
Additionally (especially if you have a 14" monitor),
you should turn off all of your Browser's toolbars so that you can see
as much of the screen (and therefore the paintings) as possible. In Netscape,
under the "Options" menu, turn off Directory Buttons, Location and the
Toolbar. At the least, turn off the Directory toolbar, and (under "Options/General
Preferences"), set your toolbar to display "as text only". If you're using
Internet Explorer, under the "View" menu, turn off "Favorites Bar", "Button
Bar" and "Address Bar". You really don't need all these buttons anyway
- if you do need any of their capabilities, they're still available under
the menu. By turning off these toolbars, however, you will be able to
view most of the pages and paintings without scrolling on a 14" monitor.
The paintings will look best if you have a 16-bit
color (thousands of colors) monitor, or better.
In the paintings section, clicking on any thumbnail
will bring an enlarged view of the painting to the screen, along with
more information about the painting.
