Boss Woman Yam/Emily Kame Kngawarreye, Page 1

TVU 27. Alalgura Profusion, Emily Kngwarreye, 1993, 60" x 36" Not For Sale

A wonderful example of Emily's middle period where dotting is used to create muddy, often floral, passages of light and color. This is the so called "dump dump" style where Emily used a shaving brush cut down so that the bristles were uniformly round and even, and stamping like a stencil brush against the canvas. The bristles would splay out creating a floral ring of pigment almost translucent on the inside so that one could see down through the layers of applied pigment creating a feeling of light and depth and movement.
