After Paddy Sims became sad we all realized it was time to go. Later we stopped so the women could go digging for yarla or bush yams, a sweet potato with a wonderful nutty flavor, a staple of the traditional bush diet. Jorna seems to have come up big here. The yams are spread out below the overturned billycan at bottom left.

After we returned to Yuendumu and all rested up for a day or two, Paddy Sims and Paddy "Cookie" Stewart began work on the large canvas which is the subject of the following photo essay (return to main page above).
