Paddy Japaljarri Sims (4th from right) c. 1970, dancing with the large ceremonial object depicted in the painting. This object represents Munga or the night sky and the stars in the heavens. At the end of the ceremony they raise the object skywards as if to put the stars back in the night sky. This is meant to bring on the change of seasons, making the nights shorter and the days longer, renewing the world after the winter months.
